Hi, we’re FamYarn! We’re excited to share our new family history software with you.

We’re building a place for family history: something that helps you record the people, stories, and moments that tend to slip away over time.

Not just a tree. Not just a collection of records. Something a little more human than that.

We built FamYarn to be the kind of tool we wanted when we started exploring our own family histories. We wanted something that felt more like a living, breathing family tree and less like a static database. We’ve done some things differently, and we think it’s for the best. Time and time again, while we were building these tools, we thought, “do we have to do it this way?”. And the answer was often “no, we don’t”.

We’re a small company - no investors, no outside funding, and no shadowy organizations pulling the strings. We don’t have to optimize, and we only answer to our customers. If you ever tried a family history product and thought it felt confusing, or overwhelming, or like it was always trying to sell you something, we’d like to offer you something different.

What we’re trying to build

FamYarn is our attempt to bring those things closer together.

A place where you can:

• record the basics, if you want to
• collect stories, when they come up
• connect people, places, and moments in a way that actually feels natural

Not everything needs to be perfect or complete.

Sometimes it’s enough to capture something before it’s gone.
