You uploaded an old family photo because you wanted to preserve it. Maybe you added a note, a name, a date, or a memory only your family would understand. Then one day, that photo shows up in a Google search.
That is not how family history should work.
FamYarn starts from a different assumption: your family stories, photos, documents, and relationships belong to you and the people you choose to share them with. We don’t have a public tree, and your family history belongs to you and your family.
Privacy matters to us. Your family tree might have deeply personal stories, photos that are special to you, and the hard-earned results of your research. We don’t believe in taking that, monetizing it, or publishing it.
Some genealogy products offer free plans to harvest your data or bait-and-switch you into adding your records to their mega-database. They send your data to anyone else on the service, and some even charge for it. There’s an upside that it can make research a little easier, but there are tradeoffs around who owns the information, and the quality of the information.
FamYarn will never sell, monetize, publish or share your data. Ever.
